Crossed through Pearisburg, VA and over Shumate Bridge (that hiking blog is amusing, and includes photos of the horses mentioned in the guidebook). Ended at the Rice Field Shelter. Not a good day. I was limping along at 2 mph at the end, but was determined to get to camp under my own power!
