I walk when it is very early, and cold, and dark. I very rarely see people on my walk, but I saw one today. And the thing is, I'm immediately suspicious. I mean 1) I know this isn't their normal routine because if it was I would have seen them yesterday, and 2) people who are walking somewhere at 4:30 AM just can't possibly be up to anything good. And it was 4:30 AM, which was early even for me, because someone was supposed to meet me at my house at 8:00 AM but canceled at the last minute. After the walk. There will be no re-scheduling prior to 9:00 AM.
I do see park rangers, frequently. Aside from the one who choked on his coffee when I walked in front of his car when it was 11 degrees F, they take it in stride. Today I found one parked back in the woods, asleep. Better tools for a prank and less fear of getting shot was definitely called for. Instead let's just virtually draw some lipstick hearts all over that car, shall we.
Siler Bald Shelter looks fairly cozy.
